My new obsession... INGLOT!!

A while back I asked a beauty expert which eye shadow brand did she recommend for a new MUA (makeup artist) to carry in her kit. She, without hesitation, recommended INGLOT. She told me the price is right, and the pigmentation can't be beat. Then she told me that you can customize your very own palette.

Fast forward about 5 months, I am in NYC with my cousin and husband, walking along Times Square, and low and behold, we literally stumble upon an INGLOT store. This trip was not designed at all around makeup, so I promised I would only be in the store a very short time.

These are some of the eyeshadows to choose from

The beauty expert was right. The Freedom System, is the name of the palettes that you can create yourself. The individual eyeshadows are only $6 each! I got the quad palette, which was $10, making my quad total purchase $34. But wait, there's more. They were having a black Friday sale so I saved 20% that day. I was very happy with my purchase!!

What did I get? I felt like I was rushing. I wanted to try all of the colors, but I didn't want to have my family waiting for me forever, either. (This is the reason I prefer to do makeup runs on my own). I grabbed 4 colors, swatched them on my hands, liked them, bought them, and was out the door in under 30 minutes.

This brand goes by numbers only. I got:
  • 361, matte pink
  • AMC 50, shimmery, deeper pink (kind of wine-ish)
  • 325, matte dark royal purple
  • AMC 48, shimmery, mid pink, lots of glitter
I love the casing. It is think, and has a top and bottom that attach by a strong magnet. Very innovative.
Top L/R: 361, 325, Bottom L/R: AMC 50, AMC 48

Love the case

The next day, when we went out to do some more sightseeing, I couldn't resist. I applied 361 at my brow, AMC 48 on my lid, and 325 in my crease.

Camoflauge the Ungroomed Eyebrow

Having a well groomed eyebrow is so powerful for the look of your face. It automatically makes you look put together. They frame your eyes, and add depth and personality to your facial expressions while talking.  In an ideal world, one would get them groomed 3-5 weeks, depending on the growth pattern of your brows. But lets be real - we are all living very busy lives. Sometimes it takes everything to throw on some lip gloss while we are running out of the house to get to work, or an appointment on time.

Brushes for the Simple at Heart

So I have been asked to write a blog to explain which eye brushes are needed to create a simple, everyday look.

For a simple look you only need 3 brushes. Get a decent quality brush. If the hairs are going all over the place, or if the brush doesn't seem to "pick up" the eye shadow, you might need to get a better brush.

The Best Finish

Makeup is really art on your face. When you think about an artist, a painter if you will, he/she has to first choose what he/she will create their next masterpiece on? They choose the canvas based on how they want the finished product to look. There is such a variety: canvas, paper, hardboard, metal or plastic, to name a few. It is the same with us makeup lovers. We cannot choose our canvas, per se - our face is our face. But how we treat our skin will have direct relation to how our skin looks once it's made up.

Short for time....

Wednesday was a crazy busy day at work. I ended up staying at work an hour and a half late, and I had a very important meeting to be at by 7:30. My hair was a mess and I looked so tired. I did not have the time to freshen up AND put on a full face of makeup to try and look alive. Needless to say, I was sick when I came home from vacation, so I hadn't unpacked either. I decided to do what I had to do and just go light on the makeup.
